Some of these can be found on the NDIS’ Factsheets and Publications page; others are mentioned in this kit and for some, you will need to use the NDIS website search engine.

Sometimes when looking for NDIS resources it’s better to use Google search engine than the NDIS search engine.

- ‘A Guide to Engaging Your Own Support Workers’ (My Place WA), provides information about the things you need to think about if you want to self-manage your plan or parts of your plan and a process for working out which management option best suits you.
- ‘Guide for Mental Health Carers’ (CarersNSW) provides information for people who provide care and support for people with a psychosocial disability
- Consumer rights provides information about your rights when purchasing goods and services.
- NDIS Grassroots Discussion Facebook Page. This is a closed group, for people with disabilities, family members and supporters to discuss the NDIS.

The Gold Coast Community Legal Centre & Advice Bureau Inc provides the entire Gold Coast community with free legal advice, prototype and collaborative project work, community legal information and general information and referrals.

Robina Community Legal Centre is a non-profit, independent initiative of the Gold Coast District Law Association Inc. The Queensland Ombudsman is an independent and impartial watchdog that watches over most public sector agencies and their staff, and some not-for-profit and private sector agencies and their staff. Their role is to make sure these agencies and their staff do their jobs properly and meet their responsibilities to the community.

The Office of the Health Ombudsman is Queensland’s health service complaints agency. Self-managing my supports
Choosing the Self-management option means that you will be responsible for all aspects of engaging your support providers, managing them, paying them and any other activities required by the NDIS. The flexibility means that you can either employ your registered or unregistered support providers directly, or you can elect to contract another provider to do this for you.
